Design Practice and Strategy

1. Led E2E Cybersecurity Experience Team

Formed and led a cross-functional team to define a 3-year strategic vision for the end-to-end customer experience of the Splunk security portfolio (Enterprise Security, SOAR, User Behavior Analytics, and Threat Intel). Led design thinking workshops and customer experience research, identified key experience themes, built customer journey storyboard illustrating vision, and worked with functional leads to align on roadmap plan. Vision and process was voted top Big Idea by leadership team.

2. Led Design Thinking Workshops

In my role as the Splunk Product Design Architect, I led design thinking workshops based on my E2E Customer Experience framework. The first workshop's ambitious goal was to define a unified experience for customers adopting product across Splunk's three business units: Platform, Security, and Observability. Participants included design, product management, and engineering leads from each BU. The workshop outcomes included outline storylines for four customer scenarios, a six page design narrative, and initial work on a unified experience prototype.

3. Led Design for New Hybrid Strategy

My first product assignment at Splunk was to lead the experience design for a new hybrid strategy enabling Splunk on-premise customers to get value from Splunk cloud services. I worked with the PM to conduct customer research on what problems might best be solved with cloud services and with Engineering to evaluate the feasibility of those ideas. Within two months, we iterated research, envisioned the end-to-end experience, and began coding the solution. I led a small design team to deliver this feature as Splunk Assist in June of 2022.

4. Created Figma Template for E2E Design

As part of the Splunk Assist project, I created an innovative approach to using Figma to show the end-to-end customer experience story along with the interactive prototype as well as in-context annotations and open questions. The technique enabled a viewer of the Figma file to switch back and forth between story, prototype, and annotations. This was a useful tool to connect design elements to the customer goals they support and also any open questions we had on the design or supporting engineering.

5. Represent Product Design on Naming Council

The Splunk Naming Council is a cross-functional team from product, marketing, and legal that generates, evaluates, and approves all names for splunk products and programs. I was asked to join the council to represent product design after my contributions to the Splunk Assist naming process. The council meets twice weekly to work with the product management and marketing leads on their naming projects. I also serve as a naming council ambassador to assist teams with brainstorming and prioritizing their naming options.
